About: The recovery industry as well as recovery itself thrives in Southern California. It's a niche market for me and I embrace it. After sitting in on plans to develop Family Education curriculum at an out-patient treatment center I work with, I wanted to do something to build momentum with our target audience. I'm gonna go with a sweeping generalization and say it: Research always reveals support systems and feeling connected to others with relatable experience is foundational to mental and emotional health. I am fortunate in that my work is a way to initiate the conversations I want to be having. Or better yet, when I pay attention and listen to those around me, I often come up with an innovative channel for people to connect in some meaningful way. Utilizing a new to me platform, I created the Meetup Group:
Seriously, it's all in the name. Name it. And if it's a fit, it just flows. Social media pages were a natural next step and from there, I began to request industry professionals to host.
Hired to write blog about existing family therapy program to integrate the support group into treatment.
